HELP!! OVERHEATING PROBLEM!!

ok so i start up my car and as im driving hot air starts coming out of the vents but my heater is off

also today i put my car in the on position (did not turn the engine on) and the fan did not work (normally it starts going when the car is in the on position) what is causing this?

the heat gauge has never passed the middle. it sits slightly less than half.

someone please help.

maybe because when you have your ac bar thing on hot. and it blows hot air if its on hot while your driving. it blows air even if the ac is off.

the fans only turn on when car is hot.

if its less than half then theres no reason for fan to turn on since its not over the temperature.

to find out if your fans work. turn on your ac. and check if both fans are spinning. if they are it works if not then something wrong with the fans

Re: HELP!! OVERHEATING PROBLEM!!

That's not too bad unless you just can't turn off the (or turn it on) which is a problem I had because when the dimwits were installing my sub they disconnected the cable that runs from the temp selector to the temp valve thing. They also put 3 screws into my spare because they were too stupid too look at what they were doing. From now on I'm doing all my work myself thanks Audioheaven (pricks). As for your problem check to see where the selector switch is. If you can't shut if off pop the hood the temp regulator valve thing (no clue of it's real name someone feel free to fill me in if you know what I'm talking about) is right by the firewall don't remember exactly where but it's fairly easy to find if you follow your HVAC system. Re: HELP!! OVERHEATING PROBLEM!!

i dont think its overheating.
reasons why:
1. the fan does not always come on it really for the a/c and emergency such as the car actually overheating then it will come on when u shut the car off
2. if your temperature is set to hot, hot air will blow out but of its set to cold warm air may blow out.
3. whatever its set to air will blow out when driving unless you have the circulation button pushed (that will shut off the airflow from outside.

my car does the same thing and i once thought the fan was broke and it was overheating but one day my radiator hose broke and it actually overheated and that fan worked like it was suppose to.

NO nothing is wrong. everything thats happening is normal!
trust me, air comes out when your going about 40+ even if ac is off. im guessing cuz air hits the radiator and prolly spins the fans the faster you go so theres a little bit of air.
