Just picked up some rims....but....

I just found a steal on craigslist for some 17" Chrome rims and the dude threw in 2 toyo proxes 4 low-pros for cheap. So i need to buy atleast two more tires.

The tires he gave me are 215/40zr17. The ride is stock height and i want the rims/tires to fill the wheel wells atleast. Should I get taller tires, or spend the money on lowering springs?

Opinions?

Thanks is advance!

Tony

Coil.Overs. Simple solution to all your suspension problems haha. But seriously beefy tires look horrible on sports cars. Keep the low pros and drop the car a bit

you could get some coilovers from ebay =P i know they are cheap as Hell. but they are still decent. atleast till you get some better ones. they cost like 20 for a set and 30 for shipping. and they arent to bad. can use those till you have saved up enough money to get new, better ones. thats what i am doing =P

wow. way to be an A**! those are made out of the same material as most expensive coilovers. such as ground control. and i only said use them till he can get a set of "better" ones. i mean go ahead and waste 400 dollars on something that you can get for 50 which is close to the same engineering and manufacturing as the expensive ones. don't shoot down someones suggestion because you can waste money on expensive stuff because of a name! Asshole

Re: Just picked up some rims....but....

if by when you say "same material" you mean metal, then yes, they are the same material. and to say that some $20 ebay "coilovers" are essentially the same as a set of expensive ones such as ground control or tein couldnt be further from the truth. and im shooting down your "suggestion" because the suspension of your car, is not one of the places you want to go cheap. if saving money is your platform then why dont you just suggest he go down to leroys muffler shop and have his springs cut? buying good suspension parts is far from a "waste of money" a waste of money would be spending $50 on coilover SLEEVES off ebay. do it once, do it right.
and i am an asshole. im an asshole because i hate when people get talked into ruining or damaging their car by jackoffs like you with ****head advice.

sorry for all the french.

I support your french. Your LIFE rides on your car. cheaping out on ebay springs is WE-TAW-DID. I wouldn't trust something that is such a big part of the car to a chinese company that only cares about making the dollar. THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE SO CHEAP.

again. they have the same materials and same manufacturing. yes. they are made in different places. but they are still decent. why do you think we go other places to get stuff manufactured? because mexicans do a damn good job making stuff for us at a cheaper price. even if the coils were to suck. the nut and bolt (the height adjuster) is just as good. and you can just buy a different coil. and you will still save more money. is that still a bad idea? i really dont think it is. it saves money. and everyone wins. ok?

when i see a team in super lap battle or D1GP running with mexican built coilover sleeves i will with the most humble sincerity admit you are right. until then i think you are wrong.

Re: Just picked up some rims....but....

good point.
and in all honesty. i just bought them because they where cheap. they arent bad at all.
and i also dont do a bunch of hard driving. so yeah.
and i also just like to argue =P
if i were hardcore into racing and autocross and all that stuff. i probably would invest into something more expensive. but im not. so ill settle for something cheaper.
