Prelude' bulbs

Hi guys,

I've looked around and couldn't really find an answer. Actually, I was trying to change my bulb when I noticed I couldn't get the bulb out by turning the plastic thing clockwise. Is that how it's supposed to be done?

Thanks

Re: Prelude' bulbs

i think theres a little metal thing that goes around it to hold it. you have to look in there good. it comes off...its a little tricky but its easy imo..

Re: Prelude' bulbs

disconnect the plug, then pull off the round rubber boot, then there is a metal tab that folds over the bulb to keep it in place, push in and over on the tab to release it and it swings over away from the bulb from one side on a hinge. Then the bulb should come right out.

Meh, just do what I do - drive to the servo and do it before you fill the tank. Service stations always have enough light to turn night into day.

Seriously, CTLude's post in spot on. It's a bit fiddly, but it can be done relatively easily.

Re: Prelude' bulbs

Hi again guys,

Since I opened this topic I never had the chance to go check my headlight really, lol. Well, this after noon, I was about to go for it so I noticed after taking a small piece of rubber out, there's 2 screws I have to unscrew right. So both of them are high beam I guess?

Re: Prelude' bulbs

Changing the headlight bulb doesn't require removing the screws. Those screws are your headlight alignment. One is for horizontal movement (-) and one is for vertical movement (|). Fiddle with them and you'll need to align your headlights again.

Re: Prelude' bulbs

The bulb isnt held in by screws. Its held in by very small metal tab that goes from bottom to top and clips in. Take off the rubber housing on the back of the headlight to reach inside. It will feel like a metal wire thats bent into a square at the top. Once you find that, push it in and it should fall to one side. the bulb housing should come right out

Re: Prelude' bulbs

At last I got it! It wasn't that hard, lol. But I was wondering, as there are 3 bulbs ( 2 H1 and one regular) which one is for the low beam?

PS: I guess one H1 is Low beam and the other one high?

Re: Prelude' bulbs

The top bulb (the one behind the big reflector) is the low beam. the high beam is the bottom one and the wedge type bulb is the parking light.

Ohh, thanks I didn't know that. Actually, I replaced the low beam, I guess then. But the bulbs for the high and low are the same? I noticed when my lights are turned on at night the low and the high beam are on in same time?

Then your brights are on....

is the blue high beam light on on the dash? if so you have your brights (or high beams) on.

and to answer your question there is a separate H1 bulbs for both the low and high beams.

By changing my bulbs I noticed my left headlight needed an alignment, so it reminded me of this topic. So as you said I'll have the unscrew all of them in order to make the alignment, right?

Thanks

Re: Prelude' bulbs

Nvm I misread. I think I have to remove the whole bumper in order to adjust the headlight then? Here's a pic

You can see the left one need to be adjusted, do I need to remove the bumper for that?

Re: Prelude' bulbs

It looks like the headlight isn't sitting in the mounts properly. If that is the case then yes you need to remove the bumper and fix it.

If not, park against a flat wall, turn your (low beam) headlights on and mark the position of the globe on the wall. Then back up a couple metres and adjust the beam as required, using the two screws you found earlier. Canucks have an easier job as some CDM cars were fitted with the headlight levelling device, which allows you to adjust vertically from the drivers seat.

Gonna be a pain to remove the bumper >_<, I might ask the bodyshop while I'll be there next week.

A closer picture
