Auto-pathetic. Lucas?

I know there are butt-loads on here about the pieces of sh*t but havenít seen much on trying the Lucas. So please forgive me folks. All right, I have a í97 Base equipped with auto-pathetic transmission.118,000 miles are on the odometer. Tranny fluid was exchanged immediately after I purchased the car (Dec í09). It goes without saying but it has always shifted like pure A$$. A friend of mine and myself recently did a head gasket job on it and also a valve lash adjustment. A clicking/ticking noise started to rear its ugly since then. It is not really present at all when in a stopped position idling. Also when it tries to shift from 3rd to 4th it is pretty ridiculous. My friend recommended draining the transmission fluid and filling it back up with fluid plus 1 quart of Lucas. My question is has anyone done such or think it might be worthwhile to do? I have read on several occasions the Auto Transmission Failure Guide and plan on eventually doing a 5 speed swap. I am just trying to prolong what looks like the inevitable. Guess it is time to start buying the parts.

Re: Auto-pathetic. Lucas?

First of all, love that Cree Prophecy quote. I've used it many times.

I've only ever used genuine Honda ATF in mine. (Changed every 10,000kms since I bought the car at 65k - coming up on 170k) This is mainly due to ignorance on my part - the manual says "only use Honda ATF" and while the only drawback I can think of is that the profit on the oil I buy goes to somebody other than Honda, it's what I continue to do.

If you're planning on swapping in the future anyway, I don't see how the Lucas addition could hurt, though having sait that I'm not familiar with their products.

I will give it a go and see what happens. Seems like there isn't too much to lose.

Re: Auto-pathetic. Lucas?

i put some of the lucas in after changing my transmission fluid. it helped a bit but it was nothing drastic i think i may have put half of the bottle (cant remember how much that is exactly). i say its worth a shot.

Re: Auto-pathetic. Lucas?

What exactly was the issue(s) with your tranny before you tried some Lucas?
