Icon8 my 5th gen is vibrating! help! please

hello all, i have a 97 with a fresh 5 speed swap. i was cruisin around today all day and it was running driving perfect.

I went to drive home tonight and i noticed a really bad vibration. It only does it under acceleration(when im pushing the gas while its in gear). it doesnt do it when i engine brake, it doesnt do it when i keep the vehicle at the same speed. it doesnt do it when i turn, or any other condition i could thing of
For example: i was getting on the freeway today and it was vibrating while i was accelerating to 65mph.
once i reach cruising speed and let off the gas a little bit it stops. i cruised it all the way home and as long as i keep the speed constant it doesnt do it. but once i accelerate it comes back and it fels really bad PLEASE HELP

You need to check wheels, could be the bad tire, or a bent wheel , it also could be a transmission mount .

good wheels, tires, and mount, it only does it when accelerating, i think a bent wheel would vibrate all the time

okay have you need to check the wheel bearings load ,also check your axles cv joints also check your brake rotor for warping .

Wheel bearings...possibly. Usually they only make sounds/vibration when you turn, but bad enough ones could make the car vibrate pretty much all the time. Not sure if there would be a situation where they would only do it while accelerating though. Axles are another possibility. Although pretty much he same goes for them. Turning usually makes it worse, and I don't think he said he had a problem while turning. Rotots only make the car vibrate during braking, but I suppose if they were bad enough or if he had one or more pads dragging, it might transmit that vibration to the cabin all the time. But you would also think it would get even worse during braking, and I think he said that doesn't happen.

Yes and no. Usually tire imbalance only shows up at higher speeds (35-45+), then as long as you maintain that speed, it should continue to vibrate until you slow down.

See above post. And to check your bearings, jack up the car and try to push and pull your tires inward/outward. If they move, you got a bad bearing.

Def something I would check, because if you're even so much as one bit not sure if they are tight or not, check em. You don't want a tire falling off. Tighten them to spec, overtorquing your lugs will warp your rotors. Spec is 80 pounds I believe.

Re: my 5th gen is vibrating! help! please

hey i read somewhere on a website about your CV shafts that when you accelerate or decelerate and the car vibrates it most likely your inner shaft of the CV joint. how old are your CV shafts? i also think they said to check them see if you can move that inner shaft the one that goes into your transmission around if so then that one is bad. idk hope that helps a lil. oh i found it on this website Raxles' Guide to Diagnosing CV Axle Failure | Raxles.com

Re: my 5th gen is vibrating! help! please

There is a braket at the back of the motor that Y's down to hold the exhaust where it leaves the motor before the chasis. This breaks at the weld for one of the nuts and the vibrates real bad when under a load. It's like a $12 part and if you can get under the car it can be changed with a 3/8" rachet and 10mm socket. It's just 4 bolts.
