hi hi hi. Ok have have big big question. I just bought an OBD2 H22 from japan. I want to get this engine in my car but beofore i put it in. People told me and so did the guys that i bought the motor from that i will need to take out the crank sensor or knock senser than the oil pum and all the stuff and put it in the new jdm motor obd2 because like that the jdm motor wont work with out my crank sensor in my car. NOw is this really a truth??? do i really have to take a part the whole engien my old engine H22a4 just to get the crank sensor and the oil pump???????? If so plese tell me where i can get this stuff for cheaper than my labor because i dont want to mess with it and i am not really sure what i am doing. Please help me when can i find me the oil pump and crank sensor and all the good stuff to make my prelude work. My car is prelude 2000. Agian they say that in order to make my jdm obd2 h22 work i have to swap some crank sensor and oil pump from my old h22a4 and put it in the jdm obd2 from 97-01 prelude. Please help me if you have some kind of information about that deal. thank you

not a 100% sure if it does or not but I make sure it does. but that's where the crank sensor's plug is attached to. I was in the same boat that you are in only my plug was really messed up and I went about it the alternate route which I would not advise to anyone.

its funny because even though you've (even me) bought an obdII jdm motor its still technically obdI.

a lot of the obdII if not all jdm h22's have an internal coil inside the distributor. thus you have to change the distributor to a usdm distributor (obdII) and add the external coil as well. this can also be taken from your h22a4 as well.

The main reason why you have to change the oil pump and the dist. is because the wiring harness for the jdm and usdm preludes are different. the usdm crank sensor is on the oil pump where as the jdm crank sensor is somewhere in the dist. usdm has an external coil but the jdm has it somewhere in the dist.

What I'm basically saying is that 'technically' there aren't any obdII h22's. they all have obdI setups.

oh... and while you have the motor out the car, (not required but) I would strongly recommend that you go ahead and change the water pump and timing belt while your at to get those out the way.....
