engine knocking noise

So, i have a 2001 prelude sh 5 speed. and recently ive noticed, when in neutral, when i rev my car past 4000 rpms, after i let it out, i hear about 3-5 knocking noises. So i popped the hood, and pulled the lil accelerator lever thingy til it went past 4000. and its def coming from the block. any ideas what this could be?

73k miles.
lowered
cool air intake
headers

those are the mods to the engine.

Re: engine knocking noise

What type of gas are you using?

And when was the last time the car had a tune up? Or valve lash adjustment?

Re: engine knocking noise

the video isn't as crucial as the audio, since we won't be able to "see" a knocking. if the audio is pretty clear, def post it up, that'll help us alot.

Re: engine knocking noise

^^that helped...

he said he's been using premium fuel.......

yeah deff try to find when it was last maintenced, other wise knocking usually leads to a lot of bad stuff, try not to drive as much for now or anything cuz next thing u'll know u'll block will either crack or completey break and u wont be happy with what u see.

Re: engine knocking noise

Actually it's more likely he'll get chipped valves, valve seats, etc. Chipped or burnt or otherwise fuked up.

Prolly needs a valve lash adjustment or new valve springs or something along those lines. Either that or he's getting detonation from having a really fuked up air/fuel ratio or something along those lines...

That's pretty much the best I could come up with, I really don't know what I'm talking about here. Kinda just spitballin....

(don't mind the sheep...he's just there....chillin')

Re: engine knocking noise

is it coming from the timing belt side? I say Auto Tensioner.. the go out around 60k sounds like knocking but its really the belt slapping the valve cover. I had the same problem with my H22A7 simple valve adjustment and remove/replace timing belt with auto tensioner..

Actually I'd replace the stock auto tensioner with a manual tensioner.
