Hesitation Problem. Fuel Press Reg????

Hello PZ! I hope someone knows what the problem is.

When and only when my engine is warm and has just been started (Example: Drive to store buy stuff come out and start again) I get major Hesitation and sometimes just stalls out. After I TRY and drive it (will barley move anywhere) for about a minute the problem goes away and everything is fine. It doesnt always do it, but is becoming more and more frequent.

I think it might be the fuel pressure regulator, but I really have no idea. I have the prelude manual and know how to test the fuel pressure regulator but the gauge is almost $100 where I live. Before I do that I would like to know what other people think it might be. Or better yet someone who has had this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hesitation Problem. Fuel Press Reg????

I would check the usual stuff. It may not be the cause or even a contributor, but it could be and you may as well. You know, spark plugs, oil level, battery voltage, stuff like that. Also be sure your air filter is clean, if that baby is clogged up bad, the car won't run right.

As for the problem, I would probably suspect fuel. Don't buy a tester for $100, since replacing the fuel pressure regulator is only $65. Also, I would replace your fuel filter as well, especially if it hasn't been done in a long time. That that still doesn't work, my best guesses would be fuel pump or fuel injectors, but that's purely speculation on my part.
