Icon5 SiR HELP!!! please

Ok so since my lude is a 98 base I need an SiR S-spec Instead of a type S right? And SiR S-spec come with a M2Z4 LSD tranny right? Where can I find an SiR S-spec engine for sale? Also what would happen if I install a JRSC on the SiR S-spec engine? No turbo due to illegal in Cali. So don't recommend turbo. I heard its not a good idea to SC the SiR S-spec due to the high compression ratio the have. Idk... I researched but can't find a good answer. Help me please....

Ohh just to get it straight.

Type S- 220hp with ATTS
SiR S-SPEC- 220hp same engine as type S with LSD no atts. Will bolt up to my base with no hassel right?

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

Ok so I did more research. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I buy a type S engine with an LSD tranny then technically it's a s-spec engine right? Bcuz type S engines came with ATTS not LSD. That way my lude will be a prelude SiR? I'm sooo confused and I can't go to sleep till I get this straight. What if I wanna get a Quaife LSD? Should I get the "Type S" engine with out the LSD and it will bolt right into my base lude. And install the quaife LSD onto my tranny that's on my car right now?

Also since when is having a turbo illegal anywhere and if it were so then why wouldnt a s/c be?

Just because you are in cali and have a strict smog doesnt mean its illegal. Hell you have the largest car scene over there and prob 1 in every 5 hondas is modified "illegally".

h22's are not very good for boost due to the sleeves, a turbo setup comepared to a s/c setup you are going to make more power for less money. A JCSC for the h22 is prob like 4k by itself

I think you need to take a step back and first figure out what you are trying to do. As far as i was aware the only h22 with atts is the h22a4 which is a normal h22 with that added to it, its not the 220hp type s or euro r motors. And both of those motors come with lsd trans stock.

So figure out what you want so we can understand it and go from there

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

Well I want a new motor so I can build it on the side without putting my lude out commission for a long time. I'm going to get all brand new things installed on the new motor while it sits out. Like port and polish, bore out sleeves, new pistons, retainers, springs, valves, ect. As well as new exhaust manifold, header. Build it strong for when I swap it it will all be new.

As for the turbo being illegal. It's not I know but it hard to pass emmissions with a turbo compared to a SC. Idk that's why I'm asking questions for more info and at the same time I'm down a lot of research. I think it would be a fun project as well as a LOT of money but that's not an issue.

So can someone answer my question if a type s engine is being sold with and LSD, it's an SiR S-spec right?

my goal is 300-350hp. I believe it's possible. What do you guys think?

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

it would be stupid to buy a TypeS motor if you're just gonna rebuild it anyways. theres no point in it. just buy a used H22 off of craigslist and start building from there. the whole point of the TypeS is the 11:1 compression and the higher profile cams, but if you're replacing all of that stuff with better stuff then why spend the couple g's on that motor when you could get a bare H22 block and head for under a grand?

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

Yeah that makes sense. Ok so if I buy a JDM H22, can I get a quaife LSD and install it on my regular tranny that I have on now? Or would it be better to look for a M2Z4 tranny?

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

As it was said there is no point on getting the type s motor when your gonna upgrade everything anyway.

An lsd trans will run you 1200-1500ish so compare that to the price of the lsd, parts, and labor (assuming with these questions you won't be doing it yourself).

With a s/c prob not, even with upgrading everything jr only makes one for the h22 so its limited. Someone correct me if im wrong but the s/c builds seem to go from 250-275ish hp, while with a turbo you have alot more possibilites. I mean ive seen h22's with over 500hp and even a few over 600hp.

But remember your car is fwd, with 300+ hp you will not have traction haha

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

Sorry psychochimp... An yeah this coversation is good. I wish more ppl can put their input.

So I guess I will go. Jdm H22 and fully build the motor with an LSD transmission. Is there a better transmission that can bolt up to the lude that would be more of an upgrade? And upgrade camshafts and cam gears. And all bolt ons. I think I can get up to 300+ would a traction bar help for the traction? Well I heard upgrading the pulleys on the SC can help out a lot too.

Sorry about all the questions but this is very very helpfull information. I don't wanna buy stuff without knowing what I'm doing first.

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

main reason modified cars dont pass smog in cali is because to tune it the right way you need to convert to obd1 witch dont fly with getting it inspected, if it came out of the factory obd2 then thats That what it has to be when its smogged
asfik jrsc kits are smog legal with their engine management.('their' being jackson racings)
for turbo to be legal in cali it'd have to be a complete kit from someone like greddy
main point for it to be legal you must have C.A.R.B. number for EVERYTHING.

Re: SiR HELP!!! please

what you need to be concerned with first and foremost.......... YOU need an OBDII motor in cali, if I'm not mistaken. so start there.

basically just take a usdm h22 and build it.
this thread is a circlejerk of rediculousness.
