Icon14 Recommend before supercharger

I'm planning to buy a JRSC, but I wanna know what to do before installing it or better yet what do I need. My car is completely stock right now. I need to know if I need to upgrade anything before installing. Money is not a problem. Engin work, pistons, cams, pulleys, etc. What would or did you upgrade before installing JRSC. Any tips and very very welcome. Thanks.

Re: Recommend before supercharger

Money not an issue.... lol do not hear that a lot!
There are tons of thngs to do, how much do you want from it?
Completely rebuild engine, pistons, sleeves all the works.
New fuel pump to keep up with the higher gas demand, fuel rail.
If your going to be putting out over 400ish new axles.

Go to a shop and tell them what you want and they will tell you the options you have.

Re: Recommend before supercharger

First things first, get the thing a proper health check. Everything - fuel pump, water pump, oil pump included. If any of these aren't up to scratch then it will all end in tears quickly. Forged slugs and rods are cool but not required straight away, as is headwork, cams, etc.

I've heard of people running JRSC on otherwise stock engines, with only a VAFC or similar (meaning piggyback) tune. IMO this isn't the ideal situation but it can be done. (But only if the engine is healthy to begin with)

Re: Recommend before supercharger

colin pretty much covered it.. VAFC is a bare minimum. personally i think the same should be done as if you're doing 8psi on a turbo. bigger exhaust new fuel pump, which comes with the supercharger if you buy it as a kit. higher flowing injectors are a must. if you want it done right, get a chipped p28 or p72 and tune it properly. please don't use a vafc to tune it.

Re: Recommend before supercharger

like as said above make sure your motor can handle a supercharger meaning check for leaks, check your numbers unless you just have money to blow..

boosting would have been cheaper youll hear that alot lol

^^^(LOL)^^^ talk about money no object...

***EDIT FORGOT NOT 4TH GEN***
Honestly, start with new f20B engine, (love the bluetops) get a f20b head at the very least if you have an h22 (better breathing) Boost Cams and tune. Fuel lines usually supply enough for 8psi. check for cracks in the fuel lines. That's good for about 250hp or so. Turbo is better, but JRSC street application is perfect.

Try telling that to aka or 00cdm.

Granted if I was going to go FI then I would have to turbo but supercharging is great and effective.

yeah, if you don't do it right. just like with a turbo, there is a right and wrong way to do it. most supercharged ludes are tuned with the vafc and a stupid knob that advances/retards the timing by tricking the computer. because superchargers are generally safer, this can be done for cheep power. they do just enough to make it run right. a simple tune with better injectors and chipped ECU is the difference between 200whp and 220whp. now slap on a few mods. exhaust, a good 4-1 header. 230-240 is not that far out of reach. but that's doing it right.. and most people don't do it right.

Re: Recommend before supercharger

Ok cool thanx guys.... Well I'm not extremely rich but I make decent money to throw it on my lude. Lol I will research a lot. I think I'm gonna get a JDM H22 type S engine with an LSD Tranny and build te motor on the side, then when I'm done swap it on my lude. Sounds like a good plan and fun project. But yeah I'll stick with an SC not turbo. Idk if they are even legal here in cali.
