Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Yes. Though if you suspect that something is wrong with your injectors you should test them.

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Ive heard good things about sea foam, but I wouldnt use any of that stuff. There has always been a hugh debate on if they do more harm then good. Some people say they are bad some say they are good and some say they are just a waste of money and do nothing. I use to put all that crap in my car then my motor blew so now I just dont bother.

I used it in my car. dumped a bottle in when i filled up. It didn't hurt anything, though my clutch is slipping, so I can't tell if it brought back any ponies either...

I used to hear this stuff too. I heard not to use it on engines with aluminum blocks and all this... and then I realized I was talking to a bunch of uneducated dip **** rednecks. The product is safe and efficient.

Sorry to hear about your motor.

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Sea foam is the ish. I used it to startup an gunky @$$ motorcycle engine that has been sitting for a LONG time. I've used it to clear out injectors and emissions smoke. I usually pour it SLOWLY in the throttle body while the car is running. Then I'll hop in it and push the pedal to the medal, and you see a lot of smoke come out.

The first and last time I did it to my most recent vehicle aka my 99 lude it did everything I expected except after that my CHECK ENGINE and ATT light came on and STAY on, and it's annoying as ****.

The check engine code is for the O2 sensor which I changed (auto zone), and it's still on. I have no idea why the ATT light is on!

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Lucas fuel injector cleaner is one of the better brands to use.
I'm actually about to put some in my tank today!
if ur really looking for better full economy, make sure you change out your spark plugs.
thats usually a big reason why vehicles arent getting the best out of their fuel potential.

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

i dont think it matters when you put it in? seems like it would be the same outcome of mixing with the gas when you fill up.

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner?

Well if you put it in before you gas up, like right before you stick the nozzle in, the incoming flow of gas will effectively mix it up.

Anyway, I think most of those products are a band aid for a problem. If your injectors aren't working right, replace the injectors. Plus I really doubt they actually get very dirty anyway...

they can if your fuel is contaminated, or if your fuel filter isnt doing its job proper. that can save the injectors when you need to replace the filter :)

So where would you get seafoam? Or would STP fuel injector cleaner work just as well? Maybe that's something I should do.

no, it's not slow cranking,

i think it's fast enough, it just cranks for a while before turning over.
