97 prelude manual tensioner

Hi guys.

I finally got my h22 converted to manual tensioner with the kit. Now the car starts but has that flappy tap noise. It somewhat sounds kinda of like a muscle car. I have several questions.

1 - Being that the manual tensioner is already tight enough, do I need to push/pull up on the timing belt tension while pushing down the balance belt and then tightening the bolt?

2 - Is the noise because the timing belt is too loose or too tight?

3 - Is the noise from the balance belt being too tight, because I defnitely push down on it ot get it as tight as I could.

Thanks,

Shingi

Yea that's normal bc mine makes that same flapping sound. But the guy that did the manual tensioner on my motor made it tight so it's gonna make that noise unless you loosen it. But better to have it tight then loose so you dont fukk up your motor!!!

That sound is fine from what I was told!!!

Re: 97 prelude manual tensioner

The sound is kinda loud are you sure that's normal? Could this be the balance belt being too tight, because I know that balance belt is real tight, but the wasn't much room for the timing belt to get tighten. sounds like this

Thanks,

Well if it's that loud then you should get it doubled checked!!!

I can hear my noise but it's not that loud. Only noticeable if there's no noise n im at a complete stop!!!

Re: 97 prelude manual tensioner

I have the manual tensioner setup on mine and don't have any noises that I know of yet. It is pretty damn tight on there too. If anything I would expect it to be a whining noise.
