lower ball joint

i was trying to take off the lower ball joint and there is a crown bolt that i can not take off.. its a 19mm bolt that i used a lot of pb blaster. its started to strip a little. i do not have any air tools so its me in the drive way. should i try to heat the bolt up and then crank on it?

Re: lower ball joint

Yeah, this happened to me with a lower ball joint on my old lude.. Just use a heat gun and heat it up for awhile, then try cranking on it.. heat usually solves alot of problems.. it worked for me.

Re: lower ball joint

try using a 6 point socket instead a 12 point (if ur using that)

also get a breaker bar, and a pipe

Re: lower ball joint

yeah, a breaker bar would help give you alot more leverage. but if it's stripped then you probably wont be able to crank it with a socket.

Re: lower ball joint

if its too stripped for a socket, you might have luck with a pipe wrench
