Shift kit?

I was wondering if there was a shift kit for the automatic 5th gen preludes. I've tried searching, but I couldn't find anything. I'm new to the prelude world.

Re: Shift kit?

Probably because there is not anything. just get a 5spd swap and be done with it.

Re: Shift kit?

I have an auto 5th gen and would have to agree just do the swap. thats my next project for my lude. the auto trans on these 5th gens are terrible unless you are one of the lucky few my suggestion just swap it out

Re: Shift kit?

someone correct me if i am wrong but it believe it is all the same. they made a few improvements to them in 2000 but the transmissions are still failures.

If you hate traffic, still, swap a manual trans in. Would you rather have to sit in traffic and clutch all the time, or have your tranny go out in the middle of a traffic jam?

Plus...manual transmission = more WHP.

Re: Shift kit?

There seems to be no consistency. Mine's done 165k km and isn't showing any signs of failure...touch wood. I know people who had way less than me and only ever drove the car on weekends who had their trans go.

Short answer is no, there is no shift kit for the Prelude auto. However with the retarded gear ratios that Honda chose to put in there saving a few tenths of a second on a shift isn't going to do squat to your 0-60 or quarter mile time.

Re: Shift kit?

5 spd ftw. Auto tranny gave me hell, I blown my transmission out of my 5th gen.

Sell your Prelude and buy a Mustang or Camaro

Don't tell me thats what you used to own before the Lude.. that would be too funny.

Yeah the auto stick sucks,,, well I guess its kind of fun to drive but they don't last.

Yeah I waited til I found a 5 speed to buy, most of the first Preludes I looked at were the autos and I look into the interior and the sales guy was walking up and I saw it was a auto and turned to leave, the sales guy said " Don't you want to take it for a spin?" I would say " Na, its an auto, I'm looking for a 5 speed." they would always want to sit down with me and get my name and number and they would say they would find one and give me a call, you know I was never contacted by any place saying they found one. Finally found one had a fresh new paint job, pretty well taken care of as this was the daily driver the girl I bought it from had a Integra man, that thing was like seeing something right out of fast and the furious (show car) under the hood was like 85 to 90% chrome and wires all tucked engine compartment so clean i would eat off of it.
