Wrecked... what to do now...

i wrecked my lude and here is a little on it... engines fine (however has 215k miles), the power steering is broke because im pretty sure just a line is broke or off a connector, rear axle is bent, rims and tires are fine. what should i do with it? part it out or pull the engine and what not out and put it in another car to have fun in?

Re: Wrecked... what to do now...

I live on a farm so i have a huge barn to store it in and do what i want with it so parting and storing isnt a problem... but i was wondering if there is any cool stuff you could do with the engine like put it in a spud of a car body and make it a sleeper... the only way im gonna completely fix it is if i can find another wrecked lude at a junk yard that i could pull parts off of to use (ie: back axle and suspension)

opened the hood today before i left for school and the radiator for sure is a must and powers steering needs work for sure... other than that its all body work and pulling the frame back to straight (ish)...

a buddy and i were thinking about making it a winter time beater since we like taking old cars with hand e-brakes and drifting them when the snow and ice builds up... any seconds on this idea? any others are welcome its gonna sit for a few weeks before i figure out what all is wrong when i get home...

What the hell did you do? How did you wreck it...? I'm guessing the whole "I spun out" scenario plays out here? I also see that you are from Ohio, so please stay off of Dayton roads.

Re: Wrecked... what to do now...

Buy a EG hatch and swap that H22 in there lol, but since this is a prelude forum just buy another prelude that needs a motor and just swap it. Then part the rest of your car out to make some of that money back.

Re: Wrecked... what to do now...

i was cruizin down the highway and hit a huge water puddle and having just blown out a tire the day before i had a warn tire and a brand new tire on the front and i spun right corrected hit another runoff puddle spun left held it for a while then i tapped the concrete wall and spun like hell, rolled backwards then spun back when i tried stopping my self... haha but dont worry Randall i dont plan on going near Dayton anytime soon lol

alright after talking to my friend we decided we were gonna find a blown up crx, or civic (prolly hatch) and swap the engine and transmission into it and cut the exhaust i got on the lude and re-fit it... i am still gonna try and find another lude to replace it with but if not then its going into something small like i said...

Wait, so you replaced only one tire...? Aren't you supposed to replace tires in sets?

he was probably just trying to get it back on the road so he could get places

and man that sucks.. note to self, avoid run off puddles!

and dude if you fix a crx and make it super clean with a h22 in it.. that will be so sick.. i love crx's especially when theyre done right.. theres a super clean crx in the last issue of honda tuning.

Re: Wrecked... what to do now...

yes i only replaced one tire... i was on my way to ft Wayne Indiana and was 30 min away from my house actually in the town that i go to school in and found out that walmart had one that would fit the rims i got and just had it put on so i could finish my drive... and it was dry out then but it started raining on my way home :( but i think its gonna be a civic coup or hatch... i want to do hatch and my buddy wants to do coup so we are debating which one now...

the engine has 215k on its stock engine so im gonna have it rebuilt... and maybe turbo when we put it in the shell any thoughts on that? knock 2 birds with one stone?

Put the motor in civic or a crx they rip way better than the lude ever thought of with that stock motor.

I am currently looking for a 92-00 civic hatchback 5 speed... and my buddy said he could rebuild/build up the engine for me so i can turbo it... does anyone know if i could keep the lude front axle and just connect it to the civic or is it too wide?

Where you from?

i know of four in this area

This one is a bit more than I thought but it has the fart can and the intake already.

http://www.ecoastauto.com/html/details.php?id=H164R

http://www.ecoastauto.com/html/details.php?id=G626R

that one would be right up your alley, I think it would cost more to fix yours than to buy one of these and fix it up with your spare parts.

That second one got hi jacked for the lip kit on it, someone get there before I did. :(

yep the closest one to me is 146 miles away and they want almost 4k for it... ill just stick with tryin to find a blown up civic to drop the engine into... it would be nice to have another lude but thats a far drive and i dont absolutely need a running one...

Re: Wrecked... what to do now...

i think a crx would be sweet cause they are so light but i hear the swaps are a hell of a time... where i looked up that civics have had more engine mounts made and electrical connectors that you just plug the civics ends into one side and the prelude engines into the other and everything is hooked up including vtec so thats a plus... also what OBD does a 97 vtec have is it 1 or 2? i still dont know the difference in the two...
