broken bolt on starter

Ok, so i was changing out the starter to my lude. When re-installing the starter, i over tighten the upper bolt and snapped the head and part of the bolt off. ive drilled the broken bolt for the extractor. i've also soaked the bolt with liquid wrench. unfortunately im unable to gain enough leverage to break the bolt loose. hopefully someone has gone through this and have suggestions. thanks in advance, i really appreciate any info!!!

Also, if im unable to remove the bolt, will the lower bolt, along with some blue loctite be enough to hold the starter in place?

Re: broken bolt on starter

the starter has alot of torque. if i were you i would try to get the bolt out, bring the car somewhere to have them do it (manuals can be push started) of its an auto, then i dont think so..

if not, i would try to drill and tap the hole so you can get some kind of bolt in it.. i do know that the starter bolts also hold the transmission on (well at least one of the bolts do)... but NO one bolt and blue locktite wont work....=/

either get a bolt in it somehow, or bring it to a shop..

Re: broken bolt on starter

if you snapped the ENTIRE head off, then it should be pretty easy;
take the bottom bolt out, take off the starter, then that should give you all the clearance you'll need to do anything.
