Re: window wont go down

Sounds like your actuator that pulls the window down and pushes the window up has taken a sh*t on you!!!

Re: window wont go down

I've nvr seen it done on a LUde. But I saw it on my girls Subby and it looks like it can take awhile. Not hard but jus a lot of unbolting and rebolting and swapping out the actuator motor.

Re: window wont go down

sounds more like the window actuator than the motor if you hear a noise. That noise is because the motor is working and trying to turn but it is getting bound up by a faulty actuator and stopping. To change they are kinda a bitch. Remove the door panel, pull the plastic cover back, unplug the motor, try to get to the bolts that hold the actuator to the glass and separate from actuator. Try and hold window up somehow. Unbolt the motor bolts and actuator bolts and remove. get the new actuator, remove motor from old one and swap over and reinstall. cramming the whole assembly in and out of the door is kinda tricky. good luck.

Just sayin that that is what i did and worked for me. It was kind of a pain to work in tho. best way to hold up the window is use tape, thas what i did.

Actuators just get worn out over time from folding so many times, the gears can get worn down where the motor attaches, the metal bends or gets weak and cracks or binds up. There are lots of reasons why. Some manufactures like GM sometimes use wires and pulleys in there actuators to move the window up and down, and these style break all the time. And Ive seen a lot of times for some cars you cant even get the motor and actuator seperate. You have to buy it as a whole assembly together as one. If I was you I would take the motor and actuator out of the car. Then take the motor off the actuator. Then plug the motor back in and work the switch, with the key in the on position. Did the motor work?? Yes- most likely bad actuator-(but also could mean motor is getting weak and runs fine without a load on it but fails once pressure is applied) If the motor does not work at all....make sure you have power and ground coming from the plug that goes to it, if you do...replace the motor.

Re: window wont go down

If its too much work for you....bring it to a dealer and have them charge you an arm and a leg. Its up to you. Man I wish you lived closer, I could use some side work right about now lol.
