burn smell from new jdm h22a motor

hello,

I just installed my jdm h22a on my 98 lude along with a stage 1 clutch. It drives and feels amazing. But after I took it on the highway and popped open the hood i swear I saw a slight glimps of smoke coming from somewhere and it smelled like burnt rubber. Does anyone know where this could be coming from? Hoses are clear of the exhaust manifold.

Long shot - Is the engine dirty, if its been sitting waiting to go in your car? Could be burning crap and dust off. I had this after my car was in the bodyshop, the engine bay was covered in dust which was being burnt off.

To be honest you could be totally right. The engine's been sitting at a shop for about a month to be put in. I'll keep driving it for this week and see if it goes away. All I need to do in the meantime is to clear my p1491 code i just got the first day I put it in =( i hate these egrs

ya that was my 1st guess by readin it too. Prolly just brunin some spilled oil off or some gunk or somethin. Other then that 1st thing to come to mind for the smell would be possibly ur clutch

Thanks for the response, I think it was all the dust. I rode it long distance today and nothing smelled or burned. I put in a new stage 1 clutch kit while I swapped my engine so I don't think it could be that.
