V6 swap?

Hey i know tha J-series swaps are becoming popular with tha civics and that kits are out to help with the swap but i was wondering if it was possible for a lude? i mean im sure with enough money u can get enough custom work but has ne1 tried or thought about it. even though tha H22's r pretty torquey still might b cool to do a J-swap

Re: V6 swap?

As far as I know there is no one out there making mounts or anything like that. So yeah, all have to be custom done.

As for anyone trying it? Prelude forums are full of threads like this where someone starts a thread about a great idea for an engine swap. 99.999% of the time they go nowhere. As I recall though someone did swap a Ford/Yamaha SHO V6 into a 4th gen.

If you want more torque, then you might want to consider boring/stroking the H22 or bosting it.

PS. A C30/32 would be way cooler.

Re: V6 swap?

Hmm next year I'm gonna start looking into this when i buy a new engine to build up ill have $18,000 ill be spending on my car (I'm in the Marine Corps. Recon) Not sure how much this would cost but i would love to stick a 2JZ-GTE into a prelude some weight ratios would have to be changed the the whole suspension would have to be changed im thinking it might go over the 18k. Not to mention i could buy a low end supra for that price but i love my Prelude.

Re: V6 swap?

Seriously, have you actually thought about that? I mean really? If you haven't measured the engine and the area you want to put it in to, then stop now.

Really, it's not a good idea?

No, it's not. I'm all for seeing new things done, I admit to being a little bored with seeing practically every modified Prelude have the exact same things done to it (lip kit, rims, possibly stereo, occasionally boosted or NA built but not often) and love seeing things done differently. However some ideas just deserve to be hit with a brick. Kinda like this:

I award you the fail llama.

Re: V6 swap?

X2 on the fail llama rofl, anything is possible with the right amount of money but if that's your re enlistment bonus I would throw half to a bike and use the other 9k to boost that way you can have some down time and still get around

Re: V6 swap?

Nope both of you guys fail this engine will fit in the prelude just not the engine bay it will be in the back half of the car i have done extensive research on this and talked to many reputable mechanics in cali that claim they can make this swap reliable and its not my re enlistment bonus or my enlistment bonus. im in Marine Force Recon (Semper Fi)... i make plenty of cash it just has all been going to a house atm which is more important till im done paying it off. This is just a few extra bucks ill have saved up unless i go on tour in which case i should have more =) I guess a finger can be pointed at myself for not telling you the plans beforehand but i never wanted to put a 2JZ-GTE in the engine bay im not sure what im gonna put in the engine bay as of right now. This swap will turn the prelude into a 2 seater which it pretty much already is and its gonna take alot of fab work done by myself and the shop and yes it will be twin turbo but i think im only anting to push around 600hp. When i start on this ill be sure to make a thread on the site but dont expect it anytime soon.
