H22a head, F20b block

OK, if you havent seen http://www.preluderacing.com, check it out, that's a sick lude. I know it's a 4th Gen and i have a 5th but it got me thinking. I'm gonna be graduating soon, so i'll have some money, and the f22 is cheaper than a new h22 and i wanted to rebuild my 180k engine, but what if i got the head worked and replaced the bottom with the f20b? This is just me reading, but 9k rpm sounds good (after all the mods to the engine, of course). I kow the f20 will basically bolt on, and it has iron sleeves instead of the FRM, so i could boost for big power. Idk, this may be a college kid pipe dream, i was wondering what some of the experienced guys think.

Re: H22a head, F20b block

If you are talking about the SiR VTEC F20b then it basically already has a H22 head. F20B has an 85mm bore where as the H22 is 87mm. Believe the combustion chambers are around the same volume though.

The linked engine has been bored to 87mm though which I guess required resleeving. Not really seeing much point. Could have just resleeved an H22 and used a F20B crank. Now if you were to leave it at 85-85.5mm, then with the F20B you could keep the stock iron sleeves and save some money. Resleeve though and what's the point?

Could I guess run F22 pistons in an F20b for around 8:1 compression if you wanted to boost. Bore out 1mm (not sure if stock sleeves can handle that) and you can run K20 pistons like people do with F23's.

Re: H22a head, F20b block

I mean, i don't even pretend to know the benefits of doing this, i just saw that the prelude racer had it done, and i was wondering. I mean it may have just been what he could get first, but could our h22 be able to spin that high? Obviously not on stock internals, but if it was built, would it be safe to?
One of the guys on a forum i was reading said to just resleeve the H and set up with forged, and you wouldn't miss the F if you were going for boost. I have no idea, pro or con to using the f20, i was wondering what you guys thought.
Cause having a fresh engine even cheaper than the one i have now with more potential, well that's what everyone wants, right?
