5th gen: how to install HID on JDM foglights

so ihave replica jdm fogs on my 5th gen. and im jus wondering, how do i install HIDS in it?? i installed my fogs myself.. along with the hids on my low beams.

k so i know for the low beams, theres this little cube thingy, where you discounnect your stock bulbs and connect the end of the hid kit.. now for the hids, there isnt that box, its just like 1 wire where u connect it to. so thats wat im wndering, with that 1 wire from the fgs, where do i install the end of the hid kit?

i hope you guys understand what im saying

If you are refering to the BALLAST then you're suppose to have that upon buying your HID!!!

The stock plug that normally goes to the back of the stock bulb is then connected to a female plug connected to the ballast. The ballast then has another wire coming out that you would attach the HID bulb to and at that point you're good to go!!! Jus insert the HID bulb into the fog housing and lock it in and that's it!!! It's simple PnP unless somehow like you said that you're missing that box (ballast)?!?!

no im not referring to the ballast. im referring to that small little cube (ballast is rectancular!).. the black cube where you insert the ends of the hid kit..

ok heres how it goes for the low beams...
stock light bulb->black cube->wires->car

and when i install the hid it goes like this
hid bulb->wires->ballast->wire->same black cube from the top->wire->car

see, all the wires connec tto the black cube.. both the stock bulb and hid kid connects to the black cube.

the fog lights do not have this black cube, so where would i connect the end of the hid kit to??

oh and also, would it look nice?? i have 8000k hid for low beams, and regular yellow fog lights. would it look nice if i had 8000k hid for low beams + yellow hid fogs??

He's not missing anything since he's connecting it to his fogs.

All you have to do is tap into the fog harness dude.

Ok on those aftermarket fogs you have likely only one wire sticking out. Thats because the bulb sopose to get its ground from the housing witch is normal. But an HID hit there were be 2 wire connected to the bump. Those you plug into the ballast. The other 2 wire that are coming form the ballast you will have to splice and connect together with the harness that came with your fog kit.

All Universal hid kits are pretty much the same so i really dont understand how you managed to tackle the headlights but your lost on the fogs. its the same concept. Only way it could possible see different is if you bought a prelude specific hid kit that plugged straight into the factory light harness( which i do not believe anyone makes.)

yes.. the two fog light housing (2 seperate wires), turns into 1 ground and 1 wire (which i connect to the other fog wire that came with the 5th gen lude). i already grounded it, and i connected the fog wires. ook so forthe hid kit, theres 2 wires EACH from each ballast. do i splice and connect both of them to the fog wire?? so therefre 4 wires from the ballast spliced to the fog light wire?? o.O also, the hids' wires arnt long enough. the fog light wire aint long enough, so..? do i splice it from the fog light wires??

You should only be splicing 2 wires. the other 2 wires should be already pre-mated for the bulb with clamps. You need to splice the power wire and the ground wire from the harness the fog light kit provided. Let me ask you this, do oyu already have the fog light working and install and just having trouble with the hid part. or are you just totally lost all together on the wiring.

i have the fogs working already; i installed it myself. so from the hid, i connect 1 hid wire to the ground wire from the fogs wire... and the other 1 wire from the hid to the fog wiring? so many wires, and i dunno wat their names are -__-... so overall its a very simple thing right? i dont need to buy any extra wireing or relay??

Im Really not understanding your issue. All you have to do is take the positive and negative of the lights and put them on the ballast. Are you sure you did the Hid headlights and the fog light install yourself?

That one foglight wire is the positive (+), so connect the positive from the HID kit to it, and the other wire to ground - simple.

Re: 5th gen: how to install HID on JDM foglights

hey everyone, i connected the hid to the fogs, and only one hid bulb turns on while the other one doesnt turn on, and when the other one turns on, the one that was lit does not turn on. basically only one turns on at a time. whats the problem? could it be not enough power to power both the hid at once.

Re: 5th gen: how to install HID on JDM foglights

no the problem was that the factory wire that i connect the fogs to doesnt give enough power. so i got a relay and connected it to the alternator. so now everything is good. im just in the process of putting the bulbs in.

i put the ballasts BEHIND the bar (the bar thats behind front bumper, in front of engine.. the bar thats suppose to help when u crash.. minds kinda blank right now). will that be ok?? will water get there??
