8000 rpm

My car has had a few issues and i would hit fuel cut at 7500 rpm, but after some new sparks and slight tuning with my afc neo i finnally actually hit around 8100 rpm and STAY IN VTEC THROUGH ALL MY GEARS WHEN SHIFTING!

Re: 8000 rpm

um.. congrats.. i guess. if you have to go all the way to 8k to stay in vtec in ALL gears, there's a problem in your shifting. maybe you need to learn how to shift..

Re: 8000 rpm

Highest I ever go is 7.5, my vtec kicks around 5300 and when I shift it doesnt drop below 6000. Sounds like a user error.

Dear lord I hope your intent was sarcasm...

Could I inquire as to why 8100 RPM was a necessity? I see no logic in your "accomplishment" and truly do hope you did so for good reason. Do you have an Si because run of the mill 5th gen ludes cut off at 7400 RPM for a reason as in no power produced any higher. Your prelude gearing was not meant to keep you in VTEC in lower models and VTEC in an s is not the same as VTEC in an Si.

Re: 8000 rpm

The tacho's aren't very accurate. Mine cuts off somewhere around 8,000RPM (according to the needle).

Thought the US just got the base/SH? Anyway the only VTEC engine was the H22, the Si got a non VTEC F22. Other markets there was an F20 available, also non VTEC. The VTEC H23A and F20B came in JDM accords.

In a heavily modified and tuned engine, the power curve will not be the same as stock. Stock engine, yeah no point upping the rev limit, although if the OP was relying on the stock tacho, then they would just be hitting the stock cut off anyway, which I thought was 7,600RPM's?

Re: 8000 rpm

Domestic market offered an si as well but I have no clue what your talking about no 5th gen prelude came equipped with an F series in the Us. For my sake please clarify what you are trying to prove and our tachometers are pretty accurate within 100-200 RPM.

Fuel cut??? More likely ignition cut. Assuming your stock tacho is accurate, 8100rpm is too high on a factory H22A, result=valve float=pain for your wallet. You have a manual or auto? In an auto you may wind up missing vtec when shifting due to wide gear ratios but if you miss it in a manual you may be taking a bit long to shift or Vtec is engaging too late. Shouldn't go below 5.5k rpm after a red line shift in a manual tranny.
