SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

I wanted to know if the regular H22 would just be an easy bolt on or Do I have to change the transmission or take out the atts or anything.

My Brother blew his Sh motor and just went cheap with the engine swap to just get it running. We will pick up a JDM h22 later on. he just want to drive for now.

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

you need to change transmission, and ATTS wont even fit. the SH transmission REQUIRES the ATTS to work, and the ATTS will not bolt to the base block

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

you'll need the base engine, base tranny, a custom-welded adaptor plate to use the intermediate shaft, and a couple other things i can't think of right now. someone w/ a 5th gen will chime in pretty soon i'm sure

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

i guess im a little confused here, are you asking if you can put an entire jdm h22 in his SH prelude? or keep the usdm block and go with the jdm h22 head

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

The SH tranny will not fit on the base block. But with some mods, the base tranny will fit on the SH block. I do believe there is a good write up on this site of a guy who swapped a JDM h22 ODBI in an SH. If your gonna swap to a base h22, you need the transmission.

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

Yea, if your simply going to put a usdm h22 into your usdm SH lude, you'll need the base tranny. Also might as well get a new ecu and switch to OBD1 with that motor.

Unless you already have the motor and other parts you are looking for, I have some websites that will help you out.

Diamond Japanese Auto Parts Ltd. - Motor/tranny

Phearable.net - Electronic Fuel Injection Tuning Solutions - Hondata, Neptune, Crome, Uberdata, Ectune, AEM, Honda Tuning, Widebands, Fuel Pumps, Intercoolers, Turbos, LS/VTEC, ECU Chipping, Chipped Ecus, P28 - ECU conversion harness

and as far as a new ecu (if you plan on doing the whole shabang) the p28 from an old civic would work.

Re: SH motor to regular h22 motor(usdm)

i just blew up my sh and put base model motor and tranny bt mine want run............ anyways if its a base motor you will need a base tranny cause atts unit want bolt to base block the castings are diff your sh axles will work so all you need is base motor and tranny and half shaft or (intermediate shaft) Good Luck

Okay we got the problem solved now lol and thanks for answering my questions. Instead of putting the base model h22 in, We are rebuilding the Sh motor

honestly i do not want to rebuild my motor, i'm thru with H22, but if you want to spend the cheese definitely go type S motor or save money and get f20b swap. right now i'm looking into the cost of your 3 options and rebuild would be cheaper as long as nothing internal is messed up.
