Re: crank position sensor

i believe there's 2 peices to it, its on the timing belt side, right around the crank shaft, bolted on the oil pump housing (around the timing gear, i believe it reads from the balance shaft gear)

all of that is correct, except the last part; it reads off the crank timing gear.

but in order to put them on an OBD1 motor, your gonna hafta install the OBD2 oil pump on the OBD1 motor (which is alotta work) since the OBD1 motor doesn't have the receiving bolt holes for the sensors.

orrrr since your converting to OBD1 anyway, all you need is the OBD1 dizzy which has all of the sensors built into anyway. much, muchhh easier

Re: crank position sensor

i'm telling you dude, changing oil pumps is alottttttt of work like you have no idea. you'll prolly waste more time trying to change oil pumps than it will to save/borrow $120 for an OBD1 dizzy and ECU, then extend 4 wires. i've done both, so i'm speaking from experience.

the pump will line up no problems, i'm just telling you its alott of work.

Re: crank position sensor

there's NO need for you to even touch the torque converter, or even take the tranny off for that matter, to change oil pumps

wtffff are you doing?

Re: crank position sensor

dude look up bustr's obd1 to obd2 distributor wiring write up, it's in the 5th gen resource section. instead of going and buying an obd1 dizzy, ecu, AND conversion harness, buy an h23 obd1 distributor off a 93 prelude 2.3 and rewire 4 wires, you're done

i have been running this setup on my 97 with stock obd2 computer and a jdm motor with no problems.

Re: crank position sensor

you dont have to mount any crank sensor, the crank and tdc sensor is built into the h23 dizzy you need to buy, that's what makes the swap so easy without having to convert your whole setup to obd1 and without swapping oil pumps which is a hugee pain in the ass

dude just search for bustr's write up. it contains the answer to all of your questions

If replacing the sensor you need to replace the ignition distributor. They are connected and cannot be separated. Remember, the crank sensor is mounted on the ignition distributor and is not detachable.
