RHD Conversion

i was on eBay today looking at parts for my 01 prelude. i wanted to kow if anyone has done a RHD Conversion. should i even try to do it? i know that it would be a crazy project. but it might be fun..is this something i would need a shop for or do you think could be done at home?

Re: RHD Conversion

Someone here has done it

I forget who

imho it's a waste of money and is just going to make your life more difficult (car washes, toll booths, drive throughs, insurance, fact you are sitting on the wrong side, blah blah blah)... unless of course you live somewhere where you drive on the left, then go for it.

If it's going to be a "show car" then uh well if you like it I guess go for it

but as for a daily driver... my vote is the hell no option

I know up here in Canada some provinces are already banning RHD cars for road use

here's the other thread on it... how do you convert a 5thgen to RHD

Re: RHD Conversion

prelude1897 has done it, pm him for info.

However he was also able to do practically everything himself, being a paint and panel man and all. The amount of work involved is crazy huge, and what do you get? A car that you can't drive daily because of the inconveniences mentioned above; not to mention overtaking becomes incredibly dangerous.

If you have anothe car on the go and you want your Prelude to be different and special, then go for it. However I'm not convinced you couldn't just import a RHD car for the same money.

Re: RHD Conversion

People know where my vote went :p Having a RHD Prelude is acutally pretty fun when you're in an area that you don't see them too often. I drive my daily and I always get crazy stares and asked all kinds of questions about it. The problems mentioned above are just minor things and as for insurance, there was no issue with me getting it since I'm running the car off the same VIN#'s. Yea it's a lot of work, but IMO, it was worth it in the end since I've never seen a RHD Prelude in my area. I've only seen civics, integras, skylines, Subbie

Car wash-I always go to the DIY's
Insurance-Not a problem since the car still has the VIN#'s
Drive throughs-Have to lean over, but that's not a big deal plus it freaks people out when they hand you the food
Inspection-Not a problem since I always get a "special inspection" cause I'm running it OBD1
Daily Driving-Funny when people first look at you and do a double or triple take
Get ready for bras and draws handed over to you
