My 2001 SH

back in april of 09, i bought a 2001 SH from a private seller. the car had alot of after market stuff done to it, wide body kit, greddy cool air intake and exhaust. it ws lowered, but im not sure how much. 5zigen 17" wheels with low profile tires. Now, ive learned some things about lowering a car, and that is, dont. it causes problems with the suspension and wears down on the tie rods and balls joints alot faster. had my lower ball joints replaced when i bought it, and the inner tie rods. also, low profile tires suck for pot holes and bumpy roads. I cracked a rim hitting a pot hole. since then ive been alot more careful. ive had a decent amount of problems with my prelude since ive bought. my atts light is on. but i think thats due to my custom wheels/lowering. my check engine light is on, something with the evap. not worried about it. ive replaced my brake pads and rotors. about a week ago, my brake master cylinder went out. This car has cost me a decent amount since ive bought it. it has 71k miles on it. the engine and transmissions is in excellent condition. so im not worried about that. everything else is fine. after i get the brake master cylinder fixed, if anything else goes wrong, i may start thinking i just bought am abused car.

Any insight, would be super, ideas, suggestions, anything.

Well as long as it is running well you may still be okay, check to see if you have coilover suspension if so raise it back up to a decent level so that it doesn't cause the added stress on the parts you just mentioned, second trade those wheels off for some stock 16" Acura RSX Type S wheels and go with a 205 55 VR16 I like my Michelin Primacy MXV4s there is enough meat on these tires to handle a decent pothole without causing damage to wheel or tire. Plus it is way more comfortable than having like a 40 or 35 profile those things will rattle and shake the fillings right out of your teeth. That car has low mileage also its defintely a keeper, sounds really nice post up some pics of it when you can, I'd like to see it.

Re: My 2001 SH

while it may be possible that the suspension has something to do with the atts light on, i would get the code checked at ur local honda dealer and hopefully it wont cost too much. second idk why you would buy a car that had that amount of work done to it to begin with because thats just asking for problems and usually wen a car is worked its been beat to ****, more than it should be thats why you would prob be better off buying something close to stock if u can find it, less chances of future problems.

Re: My 2001 SH

It runs great. just had lil things wrong with it. i love the way my rims look, and they are rare as hell. once i get my front bumper back on ( doin a lil fiber glass work, some asshole let a shopping cart go in 60 mile per hour winds ) ill get some picture up. the engine and tranny is in great condition. which is the important part. i have a guy who used to be a mechanic do all the work on my car. hes got his own garage at his house, its nice. If i keep having minor problems i may have to sell it. i work at ups frieght on a dock. i dont make much moeny so, when something goes wrong, takes me a few weeks to get the cash together + my other bills.

with any used car you're going to have minor problems pop up, but that is no reason to ditch a car. if you like it, keep it. welcome to pz.
