Can the rev limiter be bypassed on a 97 H22?

Re: Rev Limiter

why would you want to bypass it? don't you think they put it there for a reason?

Re: Rev Limiter

Fuel cut is way above 6,800RPM. More like 8,000RPM (tacho is not very accurate, I believe it is actually something like 7,700PRM).

Only reason you would want to bypass is if you are have built the engine in which case check with your tuner/builder.

+1

make sure to be recording if you actually do it

Rev limiter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A rev limiter is a device fitted to an internal combustion engine to restrict its maximum rotational speed. This is usually carried out to prevent damage to the engine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overspeed_(engine)

Overspeed is a condition in which an engine is allowed or forced to turn beyond its design limit. The consequences of running an engine too fast vary by engine type and model and depend upon several factors, chief amongst them the duration of the overspeed and by the speed attained. With some engines even a momentary overspeed can result in greatly reduced engine life or even catastrophic failure.

man wiki has everything

To answer your original question

yes it can, but unless you've specifically built the engine up to allow you to do that... it will explode.

He might have been smoked by a civic and thought heck I'll blow it before I loose. ha hah ah no just kidding. Yeah I don't know why anyone would want to bypass a limiter just seems dumb. I'd say too much more and I believe you'll see what the inside of your motor looks like from the outside.

"hello rod how are you doing?"

Rod " well its either me or spin the bearing"
