CEL misfire codes gettin on my nerves

i just bought a 2001 auto. when i bought the car the car was thowin a misfire on cyl, 1,3, and FIVE??? code, (haha, thats honestly what the machine read), and an oxygen sensor code. so i replaced the spark plugs and the o2 sensor, code went away. a week later the CEL came back on and read, cyl 1 & 3 misfire, random misfire and another code that slips my mind, somethin to do with ignition control. so at this time, i replace dist. cap and rotor and plug wires. code went away, and 3 days CEL came back on with the same 1&3 misfire, random misfire, and ignition control codes

does anyone have any experience with this same thing or any other ideas i can check before i buy a new ignition module, control, or distributor or all 3????

Ignitor. Swap it out and see if that takes care of it.

Re: CEL misfire codes gettin on my nerves

You should check to see if your Knock sensor is shot bc I'm throwing codes foe EGR, misfire in #1 n #3 n knock sensor. Mind you my knock sensor is perfectly plugged in. My mech even test drove it and it runs normal. All ports and other sensors are checked and nothing wrong with them.

So I'm getting my knock sensor replaced!!!

Re: CEL misfire codes gettin on my nerves

I went through almost the exact same things. Got new plugs, wire, dizzy cap and cleaned egr. Finally got a valve adjustment and the misfire codes went away and have been gone since.
