intake manifold

recently my CEL came on and read read random cylinder misfire. The shop i took it to said the intake needed to be removed and boiled due to a clog at the egr... 550 is what they want. Could I just buy a skunk2 intake and install myself ? would I gain anything? down the road I will be doing a N/A build. with this intake will the apexi neo be enough to tune properly ? I currently have aem v2 intake, greddy exhaust, dc header, iridium plugs and 10.2 mm wires, apexi neo.

ya gotta agree with you, i dunno about the boiling the intake. sounds like some bs to me. i've never heard of anyone doing anything like that before..

and yes you can install it your self, but i would recomend if you do put it on, to switch to obd1 while your at it. because the sk2 mani doesnt have a space for egr at all. so it will throw a code. and will run like **** a timesjust briefly like 5 mins at a time) when the stock obd2 ecu trys to use the egr system. how do i know this? i did it for like 6 months. just have to quickly turn the key on and off

Re: intake manifold

Okay I was wonderring about the Obd1 conversion.. how does this look for a deal? they state that they include evrything to do it and will program and tune the ecu to my current engine setup. Aem v2 dc header greddy catback and then the skunk2 intake manifold... will this work? the new S2 IM kit comes with the EGR mounting kit so will that throw a code still and cause it to run badly? I just want to be able to put the IM on and have it work fine and then get max power by getting obd1 and tune later ..

Re: intake manifold

Niice that looks a little more trustworthy.. As far as the intake goes I think im gonna go ahead and clean the EGR valve myself, disconnect the battery and reconnect to clear the code and see if it comes back on.. I dont really wanna spend 300+ on an IM when i could get something better like this OBD1. Will I experience gains with this if all i have is I/H/E plugs and wires?
