Tuning

hey everybody. ive been having some thoughts to finally tune my lude. so far i got aem cai, dc headers and a custom borla exhaust.(ps. dont pay attention to the pic next to my name. i have to update with new pics that are coming soon.) i wanna tune them all to get the most out of them and tune my ecu. my question is this though. ive heard ppl saying for the h series motors, in order to tune the ECU u gotta replace it with a new one. an aem will cost around $1000. is that rly true and do i have to rly get a new ecu or can i get a shop to jst tune my stock one? n ive been looking around hondata and it keeps saying manual transmission only. does that mean i RLY cant tune my lude if its auto? and has anyone here has had their lude tuned? if so how much did it cost?

Re: Tuning

If it is an auto, then you will need to run a piggyback. Nothing can be directly done with the current OBD2 ECU. So either convert to OBD1 then run Hondata, AEM, etc. If you do actually have an auto, then you could convert to manual whilst you are at it. Or run a piggyback with the auto, get more power and kill the SS box quicker.

Re: Tuning

save your money on whatever tuning thing you're looking at and get a 5spd swap. you'll get much more hp from that than from tuning those mods you got

get off the site! u know you only here to try to make fun of ludes. good for u n yr m3. im happy for u. knock yourself out with it. stop trying to make ludes look bad. u shouldnt compare ludes to m3. its like comparing yr m3 with a street bike. u dont do that. imagine some guy with a hayabusa joins yr little bimmer forum and starts looking around for stuff to laugh at and make fun of.

Re: Tuning

They said don't bother tuning an auto, not don't bother tuning a Prelude. Big difference.

Re: Tuning

none the less, hes right in this instance. the auto trannys in the lude are complete garbage. actually surprised yours hasnt gone to **** yet. just like as said a couple times already. save your money and do the swap from auto to manual tranny.

but if for some reason your stuck on keeping your autotragic tranny. the only way your going to be able to "tune" it would be using a piggy back set up. depending on what your plans are for the car, and budget right now, would really play a big role in deciding which one to run.
