About how much should this cost to fix...

hello pz im finally back after few months lol.but yea.. finally got pics of my lude so ima upload em in a sec..but i was wondering how much should it cost to fix the timing belt the gasket on the header(i think thats the name) since it was leaking hella oil & also a tune up(spark plugs, wires etc.). Because my car wouldn't pass smog even after i switched sensors and new cat so i guess they had to do what i said above and maybe a lil more. but around how much you think it should cost?

Re: About how much should this cost to fix...

Well, are you planning on doing all the work? If so then really everything you mentioned won't end up costing but around $200-$250 bucks if that.

If you are paying someone then you will end up spending $1000+ on labor.

You need to change your timing belt, water pump, and head gasket all at the same time and while you are in there you should change the timing belt tensioner too.

Re: About how much should this cost to fix...

Yea, he should. You change all that at once.

So, why did you even ask if it is already at a shop getting done?

You should call him asap and see if he is done with the timing belt, head gasket, and water pump yet because that timing belt tensioner really should be changed out too.

$500 for all that?!?!?!?

Try to get a manual belt tensioner instead of the auto tensioner bc they the manual ones last a lot longer!!!

Re: About how much should this cost to fix...

should go to Import Replacement Parts | Import Performance & OEM Parts and get parts, cause they sell replacement OEM parts for cheap...Things to change when doing the T-Belt

-Water pump
-Front main seal
-Cam seals
-Tenionser(swap to a manual cause Auto's tend to fail)
-Balancer seal(optional if you keep it)
-Balancer belt-(can drive without one)
-T-Belt
-Antifreeze
-Oil change(may as well)
-Valve cover gasket kit

Don't know if you're talking about the header gasket or head gasket, cause they're both different.
