Oil Leak >_<

Hi ,

Just a quick question: I've read on a few different posts that the cam seals and head gaskets are the most common oil leak spots for our cars.

My car has recently sprung a leak, and its bad. I'm losing probably a quart a day, and will have a mechanic look at it ASAP. I'm planning on taking her in tomorrow morning (I misdiagnosed smoke under the hood and a slight burning rubber smell as a loose serpentine belt), and wanted to get some insight before I do.

There seems to be a small collection of residue from oil dripping forming around the aft of my engine starter - any ideas where the source might be?

Thanks for all responses, as always!

Re: Oil Leak >_<

Leak FOUND - flippin' oil filter housing, any idea what might be triggering it? I read across the internets that it's likely to be the oil filter housing O-ring.

If I can get access to a lift, is this something I should try fixing myself (moderate auto experience)? Or just let Honda fix and screw me on the price?

Thanks!

yeah thats one of the common problem on our prelude some says it easy fix but i didnt do mine i have someone else that fix my o ring. i think there's only one bolt holding the cooler so maybe you can do it yourself

you can also get a O-ring at the dealer i got mine for only 10 dollars.. not bad LOL

^^^ what 10 dollars i got mine for 4 dollars at my local honda...... and o-rings are a pain in the ass if you dont take the oil cooler off from your car.but deff recommend you try using that ultra grey or blue gasket thing on it so it keeps it in place. theres that middle bolt and one or two hoses if you want to take it completely off

Re: Oil Leak >_<

Guys,

One more question as I'm going to fix this tomorrow morning - does this replacement also require changing the oil? I'm assuming yes, since I'm effectively removing the cooler and oil filter, but wanted someone who's had to deal with it to confirm.

Thanks!

Re: Oil Leak >_<
