Icon5 Engine Management Question

Hello, I have a 1999 Base with the SportShift Auto.. unfortunantly!!
but im wondering what Is mh best bet for tuning? (i.e. New ECU? Chip? Stand Alone? Piggy Back? Apexi Neo? ect.)
What can be done with an Auto and whats the way to go?

Thanks!!!

Re: Engine Management Question

5 speed swap or sell and buy a 5 speed, then tune.

x2 honestly the money you are about to start putting into your lude i would save and swap you are only asking for trouble with a SS although some people have yet to have a problem with theirs. Some.

X2, but yet neither of you even answered his question. come on now. lol

and pretty much your only options as far as tuning goes, are piggy backs.

but like they said, the best upgrade you can do right now is get rid of that auto. they are such ****ty transmissions in general. as in if you plan on upgrading your engine at all(or hell even staying stock) your auto tranny will fail soon enough.

Re: Engine Management Question

If you wish to keep the auto, your only option is a piggyback, such as a GReddy EMange, VAFC or A'pexi NEO. Though a 5-speed swap will see a 10% gain in power transmitted to the wheels straight up.

Though what tuning option is the best for you is dependant on the usual things that nobody has mentioned yet - budget, what you have planned (boost, big power NA, bolt ons?) and how much you can do yourself.
