99 lude - Heat temperature slider stucked =(

Hi guys,

I just bought a used Lude 99 at a great price I really freaking LOVE it. its a big upgrade for me, i had an Celica 2000GT. Everything is better.

One bad thing is, we are still winter but my lude's heat temperature slider is stuck. Its stucked in the hot red area inside the car's panel but its giving cold air .... Could the slider cable be messed up? Is there a way to check the cable ? The owner told me to mess with the cable behind the intake manifold.....but i can't seem to move it ....

Thanks in advance guys. Its really appreciated.

Re: 99 lude - Heat temperature slider stucked =(

hey ive been driving my lude with the dash out the winter. lol, I was set on painting it, but it's taking forever... Anyways the temp slider cable is easy to fix. You have to remove the unit with the temp controls on it.
First: Disconnect battery
2: take off the plastic cover the outlines the climate control and the stero headunit.(2 clips per side, 1 bottom, 2 top clips) pull from the bottom of it.
3: move your stereo out of the way
4: locate the 4 screws on the climate control and unscrew them

5: When you pull out the climate control you'll find three connections.
Green and brown are for all the buttons, the cord is the temp slider.

Now the spring on your temp might be broken which is why you aren't getting heat, or it's possible that it wasn't connected to to the cilmate control in the first place. I suggest you look it over and pull it in-out. You can even reconnect the green and brown cables to the unit and turn the car on. Then push the temp slider in and wait a while, you should be getting heat, if not then you need to replace or fix the slider. I have a spare i might be able to give you. I think its a fairly cheap part or you could tinker with it till you get the springs to work. Hope this helps.

thank you very much. I will try it at home. Do i really need to pull the stereo radio off and pull out the battery? I was thinking about using your method, turn on the car, wait a bit for the heat to come then try to pull the cable or something until theres heat.... i hope its not the engine's cable that's broken. Thank you again for your time.
