Price Estimate to Rebuild Transmission?

So I was just wondering if anyone here has had to have their transmission rebuilt, and if so how much money they spent on that.

I know a lot of people who have had theirs rebuilt. then it blew up again. save your money and do a 5spd swap. you won't kick yourself later

Re: Price Estimate to Rebuild Transmission?

I'm sorry, I meant a manual transmission. I already have a 5 speed manual, it just grinds a bit. Seems like eventually I'm going to have to have it rebuilt, might as well do it the next time I swap out my clutch.

Re: Price Estimate to Rebuild Transmission?

Same here. My 5spd has over 200k on it and it's starting to grind a bit as well and my exedy stage 1 clutch has 100k on it so I want to get another when I rebuild. Also going with a light weight flywheel since I'm still using stock and I don't usually resurface anything. I would also be interested if anyone else has rebuilt their 5 spd and how much they paid.

I planned on just calling around 4-5 different transmission shops in my area and getting quotes. In the end, I would suggest going with a place that does only transmissions as they will be the best qualified over a place that does everything and occasionally transmissions.

Re: Price Estimate to Rebuild Transmission?

Ya I guess I should service it before I up and replace it. I just hate to spend 100+ and then 800+ if it doesnt do any good.

Sure its not clutch related? If not then probably your synchros.

Or buy the whole thing might not be much more than a rebuild

Re: Price Estimate to Rebuild Transmission?

LOL!,

Apparently some of you guys need some schooling.

1)Q: What to do with busted a*s transmission?

A: JDM Swap. Low mile transmission for less than rebuilding that high milage POS tranny you currently have. Save your money and buy JDM.

Class DISMISSED.......
