Clutch Explosion?
Alrighty.. I know I'm an idiot, I let my very incompatent girlfriend (with a super heavy foot and a love for burnt rubber) drive my car yesterday and now I'm pretty sure my clutch is gone. Its making all kinds of noise from whining to banging.. some times it is perfect but others the clutch pedal is hard and if you try to pull away smoothly it starts whining and then "BANG" clutch is fully engaged with you pedal 1/2 out.. So I'm thinking I have a few pieces clutch rolling around in there..

Yeah I would take that car off the road asap. When my dad first got his 88 jetta we noticed there was some noise coming from the clutch. Sounded like there was a little piece of metal in there clanking around and then one day we heard a loud bang and then all of a sudden it lost all gears (as in you couldn't get it to move at all). It turns out the differential exploded and actually blew a hole through the differential as well as the bell housing
 . After getting a new transmission and driving it for a while it ended up doing the same thing and blew another hole!! I don't know if you have the same problem we did but I know it caused a lot of hurt and frustration as well as money... Now, I'm not comparing a jetta to a prelude because there is no such comparison but I just want to make sure nothing happens to your baby
