Electrical problem or coincidence?? please help

ok so i recently bought a sony xplod and was dissappointed in how it sounded because i had to put the volume higher then normal to hear it and at high volumes my speakers fuzz. Today i was cleaning my interior down by the passengers feet with the radio on and noticed no sounds or vibrations coming from the passenger side door.
Now when i bought the car the passenger window switch on the door did not power the window it only moves from the master switch on the driver side but the owner said its just a bad switch. i took the speaker cover off today the speaker was dead, no sound. I put my ear to the small speaker up by the door handle and no sound or bass was coming from that either. So do i have a bad window switch, a blown speaker, and blown mini speaker on the passenger side door or is that doors wiring harness shot?
The power lock switch on the passenger side door works though thats why i dont get it. btw they arent stock speakers they are "polk" speakers. driverside works fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Electrical problem or coincidence?? please help

Could be many different things. I would try the easy stuff first.

In my past I have noticed that when you have to turn up the volume on a radio to hear it, that it has always been connected wrong. Whether its the wrong pig tail, wrong or weak splices. The volume problem could just be the fact that your speakers are not working.

To the door itself:

Check the fuses,
Try the speaker from the driver side on the passenger side connection and see if it works, if not use a volt meter to find where the current stops for that door. Where you stop getting a signal is where the problem is.

Re: Electrical problem or coincidence?? please help

If your asking where the fuses are in general, they are under the dash on the driver side. There is a description in your owners manual about which fuse is for what application.

Re: Electrical problem or coincidence?? please help

Check that you don't have the balance turned all the way to the left side. Is your passenger side rear not working also? I'd check that first then set your balance. As for your speakers bass is not good to come out of those speakers, maybe the 6 1/2" door but the little speaker by the handle is a tweeter. Plus a Sony Xplod amp is not very good quality IMO. Your window switch is probably a burnt contact inside the switch itself. How many miles are on your Prelude?

Re: Electrical problem or coincidence?? please help

the tweeter decided to work on its own, one of the speakers connections was disconnected, must have vibrated off, the window switch still doesnt work.probably just need a switch for that
