Transmission Vacuum?

Hey everybody, I just bought prelude a few days ago. 1998 Base with the SS 4 speed auto.

My question is. when I go to check the fluid level in the tranny when the car is running the dip-stick is being suctioned to the fill hole and requires some extra effort to remove the dip-stick and when it comes loose it sounds like vacuum pressure being released. It's seems like the tranny is building up vacuum and not "releasing" it properly for whatever reason. Also when I turn the car off it makes a hissing noise which sounds like it's comming from around the intake area (not the intake itself) for 15-20 seconds after it's off. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

I've searched around for hours, trying to find where or if there is a vent for the transmission, and if so could something be wrong with it?

Thanks a lot for your help guys.

Re: Transmission Vacuum?

Yea it "neutrals" out of first and won't shift to second. But park reverse neutral and when I put it in "d" it it goes to first but when I drive it won't shift to second.

It had a p0700 tranny code but it has not came back since I cleared it.

Re: Transmission Vacuum?

I'm not 100% sure but I assume that it's the original trans. 140K miles on it. Although it does look newer and seems like it may be a different casting. I'll check for a vin on it somewhere.

Re: Transmission Vacuum?

gonna say if thats you original tranny, might wanna start looking for another one. and be happy that your tranny lasted this long. those things are ticking time bombs..

or better yet, find the stuff to do a 5 speed swap

Re: Transmission Vacuum?

Yea I know the autos are junk and I'd do a 5 speed swap if the parts were eaiser to come by. Everyone is doing 5 speed swaps so parts (localy at least) are hard to find. I was hoping it would be a simple kind of vent problem or something and I could just fix it up and sell it for a SH.
