h23 cam gears on h22

can anyone tell me if I can use h23 cam gears on my 98 lude or do they have to be h22 cams.

You would need to find out if the cam/crank rotation ratio on h23 cam gears is the same as the h22, more teeth or different size equals bent valves. I dont know though could I inquire as to why your curious?

NO. You cannot use them.


Why: the h23 timing belt has a different amount of 'teeth' than the h22 timing belt due to the different head heights. This seems insignificant until you realize the small differences equate to different length on the teeth. This transfers over to the h23 having different gears completely to fit the timing belt. This includes the cam gears, water pump, and main gear on the crank.
