mystery prelude, need help ID'ing engine

I bought a mystery prelude recently. It has a 190k on the odometer but is in excellent condition... was riced a little hard with a full body kit and all that jazz..

I'm trying to ID the engine in it... it has a red top vtec motor which I thought was only available in the jdm motor. Where do I find my serial numbers on the engine block to ID it?

Also, the engine is thrashed. (cheap buy) Looks like the owner who blew the engine was running NOS down the intake manifold and ran to big a shot... put a con rod out the oil pan. If its the japenese motor, what short blocks would I be able to connect to the top end of the motor to save myself from buying a whole new jdm engine?

Much thanks,
Been absent from the site for 5 years... glad to be back

pop the hood, and look to the left of the header, on the engine block. its also to the right of the starter; it'll say H22xx

if there is indeed a hole in the block, it would prolly be easier to buy an entire engine and swap it in rather than doing a head swap
