Exhaust options? :-(

First off let me say that, “I Love Preludes.” But, I absolutely despise the coffee can size exhaust. Some have called them “Fart Cannons” or something along those lines. No offense meant to those who prefer such. To each person their own you know. But I am just disappointed with the choices and sounds of the exhausts that I have heard for our cars. Now, I’m sure I’m going to catch hell from some by even suggesting this. But, is there somewhere out there an exhaust and or system that sounds something more along the line as this :

Comparing apples to oranges. I know.
Last year that it was air-cooled. Damn! One day I will have a 993.
rear engine = shorter exhaust

well considering those have a completely differnt motor design then ours do i highly doubt u will get ur car to sound like that. with that being said i would look into the apex'i world sport 2 or similar design. these will give you quiter deeper tone where you will hear the sound of your engine over your exhaust.

But seriously though, I love that exhaust, and for the price I don't think you can beat that.

Ya a boxer engine is already gonna sound a lot different than an inline 4. Take WRX and Prelude for example.

Re: Exhaust options? :-(

completely different motors. Each motor has its own unique sound that comes out. Subaru engines with say a invidia exhaust sounds amazing and totally different then a honda, not because of the exhaust, but because of the motor.

I've got Apex'I on mine and I love it. Nice deep tone not overpowering. Check youtube for exhaust clips. There's a bunch out there that sound pretty good.

Re: Exhaust options? :-(

All of them on youtube sound like shi- to me. All of them are too loud/high pitched. I am debatting just gutting the CAT. But it would probably cause more trouble than it is worth (CELs etc). There are no emission tests in the sh--hole state of Alabama.

Oh yeah, and I guess some folks can't read.

Comparing apples to oranges. I know. (There, copied & posted it. Again.)

Re: Exhaust options? :-(

I know it will never sound like a BOXER engine. The tone is great.
Of course an inline four will sound dramatically different than a FLAT 6.

true. certain engines can only produce certain sounds. so you're kinda sol trying to make your lude sound like a porche. I have a WS2 myself and its definitely not loud just little bit deeper. It sounds stock at higher RPMs but it give a nice tone for regular driving. It looks nice

ya theres one way you could make your 92 sounds like that...
just drop a stage 2 subby motor in it, it'll sounds just like that sti!

haha!! ya theres no way your gonna make any inline 4 sound like a subby motor. completely different design and also in this case also the sti is turbo'd verse NA. did you even read through the this thread? cuz someone else pretty well said the same thing. just different wording.

Re: Exhaust options? :-(

the basic guidline with exhaust is this; the longer the muffler the cleaner sound your gonna get, with my experience of fart cans there usually very big in diameter but short you can get alot better sound with going with a longer rounded muffler, with that you should get a deep clean sound instead of the big guy with a sore throat sound that you would get from a fart can. but thats just my experience with it.
