severe burning smell from rear wheel...please help!!!!

Guys I need some answers....

I got this intense burning smell while I was on the highway...

I thought better of it...

I came home and I step out and I smell it again...I go to the passenger rear wheel (it's a steel wheel with winter rubber on it) and it's SUPER HOT TO TOUCH...the other one's are fine to touch...

for people who are familiar with cutting or grinding or welding metal..it's that kinda smell...

I'm going to go turn that wheel after a while to see if the bearing's gone but what do you guys think???

brake caliper was dragging? ( it was changed 8 months ago) or is it the bearing?

usually a bad wheel bearing will do more then just smell bad (if they even do, i've never smelled one). you'll feel and hear it. kinda like a thumping noise. its probably a seized brake. jack up the car and try to spin the wheel. with as bad as you describe it, it should be significantly harder to turn then any of the other wheels.

if you see that the caliper is seized and you can't compress it, make sure you take a good look at the brake hose as well. sometimes it rots or gets clogged and does not let fluid flow back to the master, hence the dragging caliper.

Yeah no where near 800 unless your buying OEM parts from a dealer or something. What did u spend that much on before?
