If I ever needed help now is the time

Oil leak ....but not your regular leak. I have spent hours and hours searching everything possible on these forums and came up empty...Let me tell you all what I have replaced first. I have replaced the Cam Plug with an aftermarket plug as the stock one was leaking, distributor O-Ring, Oil Cooler O-Ring, and I have resealed the oil pan and replaced the gasket, and the valve cover gasket, with the rings for the plugs. I still have a pretty bad leak and I am at a loss. I have spent so much time cleaning up everything I have finally narrowed it down to above the oil filter, the oil filter itself on the top of it is not wet just the back of it where the grip part of it is as seen in the picture below. This is dripping down from the wire loom above it and right down on my flex pipe so you can imagine the smell. If anyone has any ideas please help me out here I have been trying to track it down for weeks and cannot afford to take it in to Honda and have them find it. Thanks for all your help and suggestions in advance...

Re: If I ever needed help now is the time

ok so after another night of tearing the oil filter and oil cooler off I look up and see a sensor above the oil filter, touch it and the entire top of the sensor falls off from the base that is screwed into the block it looks like the first picture below. Upon searching for a socket to remove the sensor I find out it has to be like a 23mm or 24mm because I do not have it. Anyway long story short I am not even completely sure this is where the leak is originating from as it is not where the drip falls but what sensor is this and could it leak in theory?

Here is what came off of the base of the sensor still screwed into the block when I literally touched it...

Now here is a picture I found on PP of the sensor location to explain it a little better (thanks a million xxfallacyxx for having these pics)

Thanks again for all the great help so far guys...gotta find this damn leak:bigthumb:

Re: If I ever needed help now is the time

yup thats the knock sensor.

hmmm, this is very interesting. are you sure it's STRAIGHT oil and not coolant mixed with oil?
also feel the wiring loom further up to see if its wet up there.

Re: If I ever needed help now is the time

yea pretty sure it is straight oil so pretty sure it isnt the head gasket... also further up the loom is dry, its really weird it's like the oil just forms on that loom from something dripping above it but I cannot find anything up there

Re: If I ever needed help now is the time

i know this is gonna sound weird, but try squeezing the loom, see if any oil comes outta it. maybe it's getting into the loom from higher up

The only thing i would say is to start ripping **** apart from wherever its coming from because thats the only way really to see where it is. whether u have the tools and knowledge or not thats what it comes down to, while replacing all those gaskets and seals was good it was also a waste of money because they werent the source. good luck man

Re: If I ever needed help now is the time

Thanks orbslude.....hoping I can find it tonight... Replacing all of the other seals wasn't a complete waste because the oil cooler o-ring was leaking a little bit and was very brittle when I took it out, the crankshaft plug was still oem and leaking a little, distributor o-ring was just starting to leak and the oil pan was seeping so at least I know once I find this damn leak and get it fixed I should be good on oil leaks for awhile....that is till the rear main starts lol.... going back out tonight to look with the telescoping mirror...damn I hope I can find it!

yea it wasnt a complete waste but its money that could of been spent elsewhere..i just had to replace my oilcooler seal cuz it blew out on me and there was oil coming down like a waterfall..i almost didnt make it to the shop i had to stop twice to put oil in it and with the oil light flashing and the motor smoking i almost ****t my pants i thought i was gonna blow stuff up..all that time there was a leak i just didnt know wat it was exactly i had an idea it was that or the crank seal but i never expected it to blow out on me..keep me posted
