temperature gauge help

I did a little searching on here and could not find the answer I was looking for. My temp gauge is over the middle line and it only seems to do it at idle or accelerating but it only started today. It does not stay high though, it will go back down to normal. Then it was fine but I pulled into my garage and it went higher. It is probably 3 or 4 squares from the red. It is halfway between the red and the top of the flag looking thing lol. Can anyone help?
