Belt noise help

Hey guys,

I need some help figuring out some belt noise on my lude. My dad and I just replace the alternator belt and the power steering belt. We didn't do any fine adjustments, just made them tight. Im hearing the noise right when the car starts and when i punch the engine. Ill go get a video up soon so you guys could analyze it, but does anyone know why it would be squeaking only upon start-up and quick revs? I hope its not the timing belt...

Re: Belt noise help

just a guess, cuz i'm cant remember right now how tight they are supposed to be, without checkin my helm's. but sounds like could be not tight enough....
i'd check the manual on that one, and if you dont have one. time to pick one up. they are a life saver.

Re: Belt noise help

the belt should be no more than a half a turn with tension on it,meaning take the belt and twisting it should deflect back a little .The other way is loosing adjustment a little on both alternator and power steering ,and then adjust it with the engine running ,while adjusting noise should be slowly go down as the adjustment is tighter then you can hear the different in the belt as adjustment is completed . .Let me kow if that was any helpl .
