recent accident need some opions on fixing it up

alright so i woke up one day last week and found my car had been hit in the middle of the night. the hood has been dented in around the emblem and the bumber scraped up a bit. i recently found while talking with the body shop i'll be taking my car to that a carbon fiber hood with install would be the same price as fixing and painting the hood. i cant decide though witch one should i go with. i know if i go carbon fiber it should be a brand like vis or seibon, also if i went with i think would get the invader style
i have an ebp so it'd look something like this

i voted carbon fiber. if it was me, id get an OEM looking carbon fiber hood. and probably paint it around the body lines on it to match my color

the thing about painting it on the sides is that it'd be more than the insurance is going to cover, i would love to do that though just dont quite have the money for it

Re: recent accident need some opions on fixing it up

well, id still do the CF. you can always get it painted. they need to get rid of the gelcoat anyway and paint it. so just save up like another $150-200 and have it done when you can. id asked them for an estimate for that too

Re: recent accident need some opions on fixing it up

Personally CF is too much upkeep...Well, for me I guess. I would just hate to have to reclear the thing every few years. That's a major turn off for me BUT EBP ludes with CF look beyond uber smexy!

you wouldnt have to reclear it every few years. as long as you take care of it like the rest of your paint, itll last forever

Re: recent accident need some opions on fixing it up

I guess that depends on your conditions...I don't have a shaded area to park and live in Florida. ANND like I stated I wouldn't feel like taking care of it...to the point of it needing to be re-cleared....Florida is really harsh on paints( especially dark cars)... Just from my experience I wouldn't wan to deal with it....But I do love how it looks.

^^Thats all just my own opinion, I've never owned a CF hood first hand soooo.......but from what I've seen, the sun here can be really harsh if it isnt taken care of especially well.

carbon fiber all the way, just do like 3 layers of clear coat, shouldn't cost you much more..

carbon fiber. as long as you take care of it you'll be fine. and carbon fiber is sweet looking on a prelude. and then you'll be so hooked you might want to get a trunk too.

Re: recent accident need some opions on fixing it up

I vote go with the CF (and I don't normally like cf on most cars... but it would look ok with a blue prelude... blue preludes ftmfw)

oh off topic... just out of curiosity if someone were to get a cf trunk would there be any problems drilling the holes to mount the spoiler back on it or can cf not handle that

Get a carbon fiber hood, but get an oem style. Wash it and wax it regularly and it will be fine. good luck

Your insurance wouldn't cover it? I wouldn't even claim it. Heck if a bird s#!t on my prelude my insurance wouldn't even give me enough to wash it. LOL
