Re: Pics of new HID's installed

I love em! I can see great with them! Sorry bout the pics being sideways?? idk? they were right side up saved on my pc? I dont like the projector look, I had projectors on my accord for the last five years and I'm sick of them. And why would I pay all that money?? Im gonna leave them just the way they are.

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

they are aimed low and preludes naturally sit low and people dont ever seem to flash me or anything, so I think they are good. Not like those big trucks with HID's that shine right at eye level and blind you.

ur suppose to have projectors with H.I.Ds so u dont blind people...it looks better because it doesnt glare everywhere...but if u adjusted them properly u should be alright with not blinding anyone...

i just think it doesnt look right to have h.I.Ds without projector lenses...if u bought a car with h.i.ds standerd it would have projector lenses so IMO thats how u should do it..

BTW i have 8k H.I.Ds on my Tahoe, a "big truck" with LMC projector headlights and ive never gotten flashed

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

Problem is that if you aim them down then you greatly reduce the distance that they cover. Don't aim them down though and the glare will blind other drivers. Really need projector retros as said for a proper cut off so you can have distance and not blind people.

Actually that's where you happen to be wrong. There have been a couple cars that have stock HID's without projectors.

oh god...dude u still dont get it do you?...damn im so sick of seeing Honda's in Connecticut with H.I.Ds in a stock housing glaring
Quote:

did u not read this^^^^^?

dude...ur car's headlights were NOT designed to have H.I.Ds...no matter what u say.....

those cars u all listed above might not have projectors but guess what?.....they WERE DESIGNED to use H.I.D's, UNLIKE UR PRELUDE'S LIGHTS.....so therefore they wont glare u and they will work better

the legit and proper way to install h.i.ds on ur car with ur headlights, is to retro fit some projectors from a TSX or sumthin.....yes its alot more work, and it doesnt sound like u would even know how to do this...since u dont seem to be able to understand what we are trying to tell you...or u can buy some depo projectors or sumthin if u dont want to modify ur stock lights...

will H.I.D's work without projectors?... sure....but what u get is mad glare, it will blind people

Ive had H.I.Ds on stock lights before i knew what was up, but now i realized there is a better way to install them....

my T/A currently has H.I.Ds in a stock housing, and it BLINDS THE SH*T OUT OF PEOPLE...but they dont make projectors for it except if i get rid of my pop ups, which im not doin...so im tryn to fiqure sumthing out for them

but u should look into projector retro fits... there is a DIY on this site somewhere for them
1BADBB6 has some i think too. talk to him

actually those depo projectors are made to run halogen bulbs, and some of them will produce more glare with HID's than a stock housing, i have witnessed this in person.

retro fits are great, but they are very expensive. i just sold the set i used to have.

i dont see a problem with running HID's in a factory housing, as long as you have your headlights correctly adjusted.

First of all Those cars that you say were designed to have H.I.D.'s have the same general headlight housing that the non HID cars have. You can get a Prius without HIDs in a lower model or you can get one with HIDs in a higher model and guess what......The headlight assemblys have the same f*ckin part number, meaning the HIDs models were not designed any more than the lower models besides the ballist and bulbs. These cars have the same similar shield protector that the preludes have and the look the same as my car, just as bright, and just as much glare. Yes I know my prelude was not originally designed to have HID back in 98, but they are installed now and everybody tells me they look great! nobody ever flashes me indicating they are too bright or giving off too much glare. Second of all I just think projectors just look gay, thats just my opinion. like I said I had them in my accord for the past 5 years and hated them. And yes I do know how to retro some projectors. I helped my friend make some out of some Lexus RX300's and they came out great and didnt leak moisture or anything. So moral of story I dont care if my car was designed for them or not, I get mad compliments, no complaints, no glare(in picture it looks like a lot of glare but that is just because of camera) and they look awesome and I can see real good at night. So why I would change that and spend tons of time and money on some projectors that I dont even like the look of is beyond me??

retro fits are great, but they are very expensive. i just sold the set i used to have.

i dont see a problem with running HID's in a factory housing, as long as you have your headlights correctly adjusted.
THANK YOU!!!

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

the difference is the bulbs, those D2R bulbs for factory reflector headlights will light up in a different way than an H1 HID replacement bulb will.

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

I'm not trying to be a dick, but the reason why you get compliments on them is because those people are probably not informed/educated in automotive lighting and they probably have an HID pnp kit in their car as well (or want one).

Also, just because your headlight looks like a Prius headlight doesn't mean it will perform like the Prius headlight. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they definitely do not give off as much glare as a pnp kit in the Prelude housing. Their headlights are tested to meet certain specifications, your pnp kit in a halogen housing isn't.

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

not sure but stock H.I.D's prob aren't 8K's either , so they will have a lot less glare in a non projector

Re: Pics of new HID's installed

stock HID's are usually 4300K which actually emit more lumens (light) then 8000K HID's
