head removal, intake manifold.

should take the intake manifold out before i unbolt the head? to my understanding the intake manifold is gonna drag the head down when i unbolt the head.

i find it easier to leave it on. Gives you something to grab onto to lift it off.

should i tie the intake manifold so it doesnt drag the head down? or its gonna be fine, cuz i keep hearing noises coming from my cylinder head when i unbolt it.

Re: head removal, intake manifold.

leave the intake manifold on
your just making more work for yourself at the start
Two of the bolts if they were torqued on right and weathered are a bitch to get off if still on the block in the car so much easier out of the car

Re: head removal, intake manifold.

leave the intake mani on, its soo much easier to take it apart once the head is off the block. There is a bracket that has one bolt holding up the intake mani that you have to go under the car to unscrew.

head warpage

I checked my head for warpage with straight edge ruler and it didnt look warped, but it has alot of scratches on the side where the valves are.I was thinking should i resurface the head or not?
