5th gen short throw.

not sure if you guys saw this yet but...

5th gen short shifter feeler thread - Preludepower.com

hopefully he'll come into production and it's alot cheaper than the PSPEC. just from pspec's customer service, i don't really want to support them. i guess they kind of fell off the map for a while. the PSPEC is $200 shipped right now, which is way to much for a short throw to me. im rocking a weapon r adapter and it helped but it feels so cheap when slamming gears.

Re: 5th gen short throw.

i haven't heard anything bad, except for the prices... is there anyone out there that is good a metal working? i mean with a couple of flat brackets, decent bolts and a steady drilling hand, you could make something that would do the same thing. dont know how solid i would be if not cross supported with some welds... but i think it could be done....

just how he doesn't answer emails etc. just bad customer service but with good product.

and i had a '00 celica and bought the $25 ebay short throw kit (true short throw that included everything, but it wasn't adjustable) and if this guy from PP doesn't produce anything, i'm going to fix something up like the celica one myself. it really wouldn't be that hard to modify the stock shifter. you just have to cut and reweld the shifter with the bottom portion longer and the top shorter and maybe raise the whole thing up by 3/4" or so with those metal lifter pieces.

Re: 5th gen short throw.

well they have these cheap adapters on ebay...

but really you could tap a hole and bend a flat piece of metal, bolt it in the hole and give it a little tack to hold in in place... then as far as shorting the height you could just grind it down. (did it with the shifter in my truck)

i would suggest if you grind it, do it in small increments... but thats only if you use a after market shifter(that doesnt use threads) like the ones with 3 Alan head screws...
like...
other wise you'll have to get a bolt or something and fab it some how to the shifter...

Re: 5th gen short throw.

i have a weapon r adapter, it just feels cheap. i just wanted to make sure all the other 5 geners knew what was going on at pp with these short throws.
