Need help installing STOCK radio/cd player

Hi all,
I am trying to install a stock CD player/radio in place of an aftermarket unit that was stolen. The problem is that I do not have a connector for the stock radio. Does anybody have the male connector that connects into the stock radio? This is usually cut-off when connected to an aftermarket radio. If nobody has one, do you know where I could buy a part that would work? The problem I am having is that the only part that is available is the female side for people looking to go to an aftermarket unit.

Thanks,

What year is your Prelude? If you have a 97-98, then you can go to the salvage yard and clip one off an older Accord, Civic, or Prelude, but if you have a 99-01, then you can get a clip from a 99+ civic or 02+ Accord and they'll work perfectly fine

Re: Need help installing STOCK radio/cd player

you arent supposed to cut off the factory plug when you install an aftermarket deck. you buy an adaptor that plugs into the factory plug and has lose wires you connect to the aftermarket deck's wiring harness.

prelude1897 already gave your answer though about finding a factory plug. good luck.

Re: Need help installing STOCK radio/cd player

Thank you for the replies everybody. The car itself is a 1998, but the stock radio is from a 2001, so I think I will have to use adapters for 2001 components, as it is the male ends I am worried about.

I do realize that the cables should not be cut when installing aftermarket audio components. Unfortunately the previous owner was the one that did the hack job.

I will let you know if I have any issues finding this part.

Re: Need help installing STOCK radio/cd player

It is METRA, not Metro.

Get the car side adapter with the wire pigtail and splice em together using the info I have given you below.

For the '98, You need Metra Harness Into Car 70-1720
Harness Into Factory Radio 71-1720

Scosche also makes one Harness Into Car Item# HA02

For the 2001 Model, you need the following:
Harness Into Car 70-1721
Harness Into Factory Radio 71-1721

car side wiring:

1998 Honda Prelude Stereo Wiring
Constant 12V+ Blue/White
Switched 12V+ Yellow/Red
Ground Black
Illumination Red/Black
Dimmer n/a
Antenna Driver's Pillar
Front Speakers 6 1/2" Doors
Left Front (+) Blue/Green
Left Front (-) Gray/Black
Right Front (+) Red/Green
Right Front (-) Brown/Black
Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear Deck
Left Rear (+) Blue/Yellow
Left Rear (-) Gray/White
Right Rear (+) Red/Yellow
Right Rear (-) Brown/White

2001 Honda Prelude Stereo Wiring -- Radio Side
Constant 12V+ Blue/White
Switched 12V+ Yellow/Red
Ground Black
Illumination Red/Black
Dimmer n/a
Antenna Driver's Pillar
Front Speakers 6 1/2" Doors

Right Front (+) Red/Green

Re: Need help installing STOCK radio/cd player

My sisters b/f works for a honda dealer so I just bought it from there as it was surprisingly cheap. Here is the info:

Honda Short repair harness - audio pin kit for 2001 Prelude
Part No. is 04320S84999AH.
List price is $25.25.

Thank you all for the help. That is really good information to have.
